Formed in 1982, Honey B. & T-Bones have been a formidable force, not only in their native Finland but all across Europe. The band was founded by Aija "Honey B." Puurtinen (vocals, bass) and Esa Kuloniemi (guitars, vocals), and they have been the consistent core of the band throughout the years. They began as a semi-traditional blues group, offering a mix of covers and original songs performed with a distinctive style. Deeply attuned to current music trends as well as the blues traditions of such acknowledged masters as Elmore James and lesser-known legends like Frankie Lee Sims, they took no hostages in their incendiary arrival on the scene. The smoky range of Puurtinen's vocals, which can vary from a fluid blues howl to Afro-pop scatting, and the naturalistic mastery of Kuloniemi's instrument of choice proved a killer combination that has expanded and improved in leaps over the following decades.

"I first heard HB & TBs in 1989 during my first tour of Europe. I was immediately knocked out with their take on the blues. I said to myself : 'this is a really great band.' Later I did a tour with them in Finland out of which came a recording that is still available today. To watch them evolve in their sound over the years has been really fun. Like so many of us they are on a musical journey not bound by any stylistic restraints. Their most recent CD inspired me so much I ripped them off a little...don't tell them, but I wrote a song that incorporates pieces of melody they had come up with . I love Honey B and the T-Bones. They personify what I love about Finnish musicians."

Flávio has teamed up with the great Prado Blues Band to produce a real old time swingin' blues album with 14 new tunes.

Flávio Guimarães is a harmonica player, singer and Brazilian Blues pioneer. During a career that has spanned two decades, he has released 15 CDs - five independently and 10 as part of Brazil's premier Blues-Rock band Blues Etílicos. He has opened for B.B. King and Robert Cray. He has performed on stage with Buddy Guy, Taj Mahal, Charlie Musselwhite, Walter Wolfman Washington, Sugar Blue, and others. He and his harmonica make regular appearances on recordings of top Brazilian musicians, as well as on television commercials and film and television soundtracks. His band plays contemporary Blues. In 2006, they backed Charlie Musselwhite on his Brazilian tour.

When he was sixteen, he started studying the diatonic as his passion instrument, allied to his own researches on the American black music: the blues. He took harmony and improvisation lessons with Aldo Landi, absorbed additional knowledge taking lessons with Boccato and deepened his studies with Lupa Santiago. He started his career with Samsara Blues Band, followed by an invitation to join Danny Vincent band. Backing up the guitarist for five years he gained experience and road time in the most prestigious and well known stages in Brazil. In 2002, he released his first album, named Sampa Blues, accompanied by some of the finest names in Brazilian Blues scene: André Christovam, Danny Vincent, Marcos Ottaviano, Lupa Santiago, Ari Borger, Silvio Alemao, Andrei Yvanovic, the brothers Igor and Yuri Prado and Blue Jeans Band. This album has put Robson in evidence in the national scene and has attracted comments from specialized writers both in Brazil and abroad, culminating with his participation, together with John Hammond and other names in the 2003 edition of Natu Blues Festival. Starting up a new working cycle, he releases his newest album, Gumbo Blues.
In this album, playing accompanied by Prado Blues Band and Blue Jeans, Robson aims to show the maturity of his work, allied with the feeling that has put him under the spotlights. His roots flourish in the technique he uses to play the 12 bar blues and with his voice, that is now recorded. Robson Fernandes’ harmonica brings a whole new approach to Brazilian blues and increases the presence of the genre in tropical lands.

Every once in a while an album is released that just amazes you. It goes without saying that GitaarNet was already familiar with the energetic and talented guitar of Raymond "Guitar Ray" Nijenhuis, but his CD 'Live at the Nix' (with 'The Rhythm Dukes') hit us like a bombshell ! A masterful album that clearly shows Raymond to be a multi faced guitar player.
From 'swamp' roots blues, to country guitar pickin' and swinging licks; Guitar Ray sharply shows he knows his way around all these techniques and has developed his own style.
In short: a guitar player to be proud of and the Dutch ambassador in 'red hot roots & blues'.

In demand dutch roots & blues guitarist/singer Raymond “Guitar Ray” Nijenhuis is from The Netherlands and sure knows how to play that guitar. Raymond’s band is the Rhythm Dukes which consists of Hans Molenaar (drums) and Jaap van der Sluijs (bass/vocals). Over the years Guitar Ray has played with Duke Robillard (who contributed liner notes to this CD), Charlie McCoy, Sam 'Bluzman' Taylor,
Mitch Kashmar, Henry Butler and Sax Gordon only to name a few.

"Live At The Nix", was recorded live at The Nix BBBlues Club in Enschede, The Netherlands in November 2003 and released late in 2004. Nijenhuis and Mark Reman produced it. From the beginning of the opening track the all original “Rock Billy Rock!” to the last strums of the reprise; this release absolutely cooks.
In between is a mixture of more smoking originals like “Well D-Surfed”, “Taco Taco!” and “Brent New” and covers that are played with real feeling like “Rock On”, “Gee I Wish”, an up tempo country finger picker - Jerry Reed’s “Jerry’s Breakdown”, a awesome version of ”Chitlins Con Carne”, Link Wray’s “The Ramble” and “Reap What You Sow”.
”Live At The Nix” is one large dose of Red Hot Roots and Blues music from Guitar Ray and the Rhythm Dukes. You won’t be disappointed.

In 1986 four young men decide to start a bluesgroup.They call themselves HIDEAWAY 
Reminding the original by Freddie King (mid-fifties). How they managed the last 20 years is commonly known; from local heroes to stipulating the blues all over Flanders. And that ain’t all, they conquer the whole country and take trips in nearby country’s. (France, Sweden, the Netherlands, Switzerland and Spain) Even the people in Quebec ( Canada ) got to know them on a 14-day tour.

True the years they got to know lot’s of American blues artists and were abel to open concerts for them (Magic Slim, Koko Taylor, Diz Watson, Doug Macleod, ….) and even accompanied some ( Studebaker John, Steve Samuels, Phil Guy, Johnnie Basset and Jimmy Morello) all former artists were very enlighted by the skills of the band.

By now they’ve made their fourth CD but the third one  “ Unable to label “ proves that they can’t be matched in any categorie : blues, gospel, country, jazz, soul-funk, roots, ……. You name it.

Skill and versatility are keywords for this six musicians. They make it one of their efforts to always try to let people have a good time, wether it is a small club or a big festival. Mostly they do succeed. You should check them out!

'Strike' became Howlin' Bill's sampling of good taste. Their headstrong mix of blues, rockabilly, surf and rock 'n' roll is the musical sum of four factors. Little Chris, Walkin' Winne, Magic Frank and Howlin' Bill are individually more than creditable musicians, but together they achieve what only a few can realize on stage: musical magic. Little Chris' carrying guitar riffs find a solid base in the perfect combination of Walkin' Winne and Magic Frank. Howlin' Bill navigates with his voice and harmonica like an accomplished demagogue through the musical surroundings his band creates.

The catching roots'n roll that these guys play together, already brought them on stages in Germany, France, Sweden and in the furthest corners of the Benelux.

On native soil they knew how to charm many music lover, which resulted in a multitude of loyal fans. Everywhere the band passes, they leave a track of blown-away, roots loving individuals, bemused clubowners, elated spectators, howling dogs and even once in a while, a broken heart.

But no matter if their audience consists of eighteen- or eighty-year-olds, young lassies or retired cowboys, always and everywhere, Howlin' Bill and his band throw themselves into it for one hundred and ten percent.
