© The Boogaloo Investigators 2005

The Boogaloo Investigators set the underground music scene ablaze in early 2003, with the release of their first single - a "super heavy-weight" cover of Gus 'The Groove' Lewis' Let the Groove Move You, which has since been featured in a major advertising campaign on television and cinemas worldwide, by sportswear manufacturers Puma.

Championed by top DJ's worldwide including Mr Scruff, Will Quantic & Keb Darge their first two vinyl singles soon became hot property with record collectors and DJ's. So much so that the first pressing of the 1st single sold out in little over a week, with copies changing hands on eBay for nearly 10 times their original value whilst the single was still available in the shops! It is a strange world we live in...

This record picked up some heavy playlisting on underground radio, club nights and to a much lesser extent, mainstream broadcasting across the globe in the process. Their second single ("Sleepwalk") became even more sought after owing to an ultra-limited release (half of which was given away free at a home coming gig) and a great deal of word of mouth across Europe in particular.

2003 moving into 2004 saw the group continue to further their status as "the most individual and exciting band the UK has produced in years" (Eddie Piller). Winning new fans in Spain, Germany, Belgium, France, Italy and Holland through their records and a string of knock out gigs the future was looking rosy.

With their records making more underground chart lists than they cared to count, they recorded their first live session for the B.B.C. in the middle of 2004. Champion of the underdog, Vic Galloway, invited them to their first live radio session for B.B.C Scotland's AIR programme. This was followed by their first visit to Broadcasting House in London for Craig Charles' (yes, Mr Red Dwarf himself!) show on B.B.C. Radio 6.

Their reputation began to precede them. During the summer of 2004 the group was asked to perform at the after show parties for both James Brown when he visited Glasgow, as well as cult indie stars Belle & Sebastian.

However, there were dark clouds behind the silver linings. Legal wranglings, due to a change in the group's line up, prevented them from releasing any new material in 2004. After an exhaustive and destructive year-long stalemate, the issue was finally resolved and their debut album went to the pressing plant late January 2005.

Free to do their thing once again, the boys will be on tour in 2005 promoting forthcoming new records, and their Dynamighty! album. "This wonderful album" shows how easily the band move from "1960's style soul stompers to soulful hammond jazz to the hottest rhythm & blues recorded in decades".

They have now established their reputation across Europe. But the story doesn't end here...within 9 months or so has they will be making their first trip across the Atlantic for a North American and Canadian tour.

With influences that range from the wonderfully infectious American rhythm & blues of the 50's & 60's and British mod soul to hammond organ led soul jazz, pre-war blues and swing records and 1960's proto-funk (when funk still meant dirty not disco) the Boogaloo Investigators are reclaiming rhythm & blues and soul music from the hands of soul-less modern pop & rn'b.
