Now, here it is ! The long awaited piece of silver of the german band „ The Flames 93 “!
This CD contains some of the rare recordings of "The Early Days" the band out of Mannheim has performed in a classical Rockabilly trio cast. The old demo takes have been recorded 1997 with the original Flames. 2004 brilliantly remastered the early recording have now been exclusively published by PART RECORDS. Musically their style meets somewhere between Reverend Horton Heat and the Stray Cats, but always with their own note. An interesting disc, which should not been missing in any Rock'n'Roll CD collection.
Already before the German advertising earwig for a caffeine-containing lemonade, there was a musical past for The Flames. Indeed, the chart breaking summer hit "Everytime" has only a less common with the beginnings of the Flames. At that time their program consisted a respectable mixture of Oldschool-Psychobilly and Neo-Rockabilly. „We were somewhere between Reverend Horton Heat and the Stray Cats, “ Carl Lee Kay (at that time he played the double bass for The Flames) described their style at that time in an interview with the magazine DYNAMITE. Founded in 1993, The Flames soon started playing in clubs in their area - auditions with The Cruisers, Phil Trigwell and Wildfire Willy. Bit by bit The Flames won to themselves a name and performed with the greatest of the Psychobilly scene all over the country (Demented are go, meteor, Guana Batz, Nekromantix, King Kurt, C. Ramone, Lunachicks, Restless and Dave Philipps).
The CD The Flames 93 refers to 1993, the year the band was founded. It documents the original sound from the wild beginnings of The Flames. The songs have been recorded with the original cast during a hot summer day in 1997 and reflecting the energy of the young and dynamic Flames. Magnificently remastered the songs now have won in power and pressure, thereby the impression they would only be some kind of „ demo of tapes “ disappears. “Finally, the songs have got their last grinding, “ meant Carl Lee. „ Now the songs sound in such a way, as we have always wanted them“. Responsible for the brilliant cover artwork is the bandleader from the psycho shockers "Thee Flanders" (Potsdam / Germany), Norman Winter. Therefore the CD becomes a unique piece of art.
