The band is a good-time Rockin' Rhythm & Blues combo and has earned a reputation from the Blues, Roots, Swing, and retro-billy crowd as one of the best around. Past and current bandmembers' affiliations read like a who's-who of the LA scene- Royal Crown Revue, Big Sandy& the Fly-Rite Boys, Deke Dickerson, James Harman, Rod Piazza, Hot Rod Lincoln, the Lucky Stars, Russell Scott &the Red Hots, Lynwood Slim, Hank Ballard & the Midnighters, and many more. Some members of the Combo have even played with artists like Mike Ness, Social Distortion, Brian Setzer, Big Bad Voodoo Daddy, Englebert Humperdinck and even Ricky Martin.
The Combo has shared bills with many local greats like Royal Crown Revue, Big Sandy, and even legends like Sam Butera. The HWC has performed at nightclubs, dances, car shows, many private events, weddings and music festivals worldwide, including Viva Las Vegas, the Green Bay Rockin' 50's fest, many Blues festivals, and others. The HWCombo regularly backs up 50's Sax legend and R&B hall-of-famer Big Jay McNeely and performs with him once a month at Big Jay's Blues party at Joe's in Burbank. Other original 1950s artists the HWCombo has backed up include Roy Gaines, Roddy Jackson, and Willie Headen. This year in Green Bay the HWCombo worked with Speedo & the Cadillacs and the dynamite Vicky Tafoya. The HWC has even appeared on prime-time television in "For Love Or Money" on NBC. Led by singer/harmonica/bandleader Mark Tortorici, the CD puts together an all-star cast of the best of the LA scene to create a memorable Rhythm & Blues record.
