Austin-based singer/songwriter Jennifer Leonhardt released her debut studio album Gods & Nations (GrassRoots record) in 2007. Her single "Gentlemen's Bet" is out on ShutEye Records' United State of Americana Volumn 4 compilation with tracks by Bobby Bare and BR5-49. The reviews have been positive:
"The arrival of a major new talent. From the sound of the trenchant folk/blues of gods & nations, and the driving, impassioned emotion at the heart of "Patron", Leonhardt is a gale force to be reckoned with." -Pop Culture Press
"[gods & nations]" is as raw and genuine as you're going to find." -1340 Mag
"A stirring songwriter, Leonhardt plays blues with vivid modern lyrics and harmonies. For her latest album, she wove the influence of her family of artists and musicians and the impact of Katrina into flowing Americana ballads." -Austin American-Statesman
"Rustic, propulsive rhythms and sinuous melodies surge through the humid air of a muggy summer night, headed straight toward your unsuspecting soul. From the music comes a woman's voice, thick in its sensuality, raw in its expression- that's the feeling you get when listening to Jennifer Leonhardt’s new album, Impressive in its overall sound, gods & nations comprises a mix of acoustic and electric-textured songs, evoking folk and blues in ways that sound contemporary, relevant and, most importantly, compelling." -Blogcritics
She will be touring with her band in summer of 2008-look for dates to be posted in late spring.
