Rip originally hails from West Virginia, and luckily for us, he has not forgotten his southern roots when he recorded this CD for Rollin' Rock. Jed Clayton & The Rockabouts hail from Sweden, the band was formed in 2000 and already have a good name on the rockabilly and western swing scene. They have released two full length CDs so far, the first being "What's Up Tonight" (ETCD-2060) and the second of course is this new release "Swing Into Action", both on the Spanish El Toro label. Rockabilly, rhythm & blues and a bit of doo-wop, mixed in with some jazz & ragtime influences, mainly due to Per Dywling's trumpet. It was 1993 when the five doo wop addicted guys were looking for an echo, an answer to their sound...and they finally found it - for seven exciting years. Their career (kind of) brought them to countless gigs in Germany and abroad. For example to the „Stadtpark“ in Hamburg, where they supported the Flying Pickets (of „Only You“ fame), various gigs at Hamburgs rock..n..roll venue „Knust“ and to many Rock..n..Roll/rockabilly festivals all over Europe! And not to forget all the private Celebrations like marriages, birthdays and so on... Beneath the live performances the Chotalls did a couple of recordings. First of all the Diva Records CD „Sh Bop A Zing A Zoom Zoom“ in 1995. 12 tracks recorded in one and a half days. Then there are three recordings for the Crystal Ball anniversary albums, the CB Christmas album and the CB Halloween album. They also appeared on the Spanish doo wop/acappella compilations Hip..n..Hop in Harmony Volume 1 and 2.

Musician since the fifties, famous since his releases on Rollin´ Rock Records in the seventies and still songwriting, recording and playing today This is the re-release of one or Ray´s original Rollin´ Rock LP´s. This is an eighties recording with Rip Masters on piano and Jimmie Lee Maslon on guitars/harmonica, along with other Rollin' Rock 'people'. Ray Campi has been a mainstay of the Rockabilly scene for many years now. This is one of his later albums, and is not as 'raw' as his Fifties stuff or the Rollin' Rock stuff. If you like well-produced modern American 'roots' Rockabilly, then this is a good buy.
