One of the first bands to walk through the doors of my Western Star studio was Bill Fadden and his band the Silvertone Flyers. I recorded their debut album ‘Bop Party’ which was released on Raucous records in 2000. A year or two later I recorded their second album ‘Satellite Rock’. By this time I had started my own label, so I was more than happy to have them on my label as not only did I love the band, but I considered them all friends.
I’d always said I fancied collaborating on some songs with Bill, so it was over a long Easter weekend in 2004 that I arranged for Bill to come stay at my house. The plan was to write some Rockabilly songs over the first few days, then invite a few friends over to record them on the remaining days. Bill arrived with two huge sombreros in one hand and a bottle of Tequila in the other! And, as I’d just returned from a trip to Tijuana, there was a definite Mexican spirit in the air - which printed through into some of the tracks we wrote. At one point, in the early hours of the morning, much the worse for the Tequila, we had written the basics of a song which told of life in a Mexican Prison. If only we knew the name of such an establishment! So, it was to the internet we went, seeking the name of a notorious Mexican prison. This was proving not to be such an easy task and in desperation we found a chat room dedicated to Mexico. We cautiously entered and greeted the room with “Hi, who’s in here?”….. As is often the case, the room contained some random wise-guy with a microphone and an instant reply came back “Mostly Losers!”…. In our drunken state it seemed hilarious and the name stuck. Eventually we discovered that one of the worst prisons south of the border was called La Mesa and so our new song was duly completed.
Over the following few days we recorded the songs we had written, along with a few choice covers. The band included ace Rockabilly bassist and ex Silvertone Flyer - Jack Boxwell and seasoned session drummer Ben Turner. I played guitar and Bill sang. A few other friends and musicians also dropped by to guest on a track here and there.
We had a great time recording these tracks and further Mostly Losers sessions were talked about, but alas with everyone’s busy schedules it wasn’t to be. The only one exception being the track “Little Baby” which was recorded in 2005 for one of my Joe Meek tribute CD’s.

Bill Fadden has proved himself as the hottest name in UK Rockabilly in years! This, his second album was recorded just after the bands triumphant return from a sellout US tour in 1993. Rockabilly bible ‘Now Dig This’ called this ‘the best UK Rockabilly album they had heard!

With over sixty years of experience between them they really should have known better, but when Gene Gambler decided to cut down on gigs there was only one singer that The Shufflers wanted to fill his shoes. Unfortunately he wasn't available so instead they got out their address books and started ringing round. After a little while they accidentally roused Bill Fadden from a drunken slumber and he hightailed it straight to Cardiff with his battered guitar wrapped lovingly in a black bin liner. After a couple of hours of playing, some pleading and eventually bribery Bill managed to persuade them to start a completely new outfit. Now all that's left is to play some gigs and make some records and fame and fortune will surely soon be theirs. Then again with the new pub licensing laws it's looking increasingly unlikely that they'll ever get round to it...whose round is it next anyway?

The second, long expected album from this authentic 50's Rock'n'Roll band. Their debuet CD was sold out in a few months (released 2002). After successful touring all over europe it was time for a new release: "Seven Nights To Rock "

This album contains 15 songs, 6 originals written by the band and some rockabilly and rock'n'roll covers like "Rock Ola Ruby", "Saturday Night" and "Seven Nights To Rock" from Moon Mullican.

This high-quality recording was done in the Rhythm Bomb Studios by producer Axel Praefcke. He has mixed two different recording styles: wild authentic garage rockabilly sound and end 50s rock'n'roll style. The album itself has a strong mix of styles, " Down Town Mexico" with a mexican attitude, "Ghost Surf" a monster rock'n'roll surf novelty song and classical boppers like "Top Chop Boogie" and "Rock Baby Rock".

Pure rockabilly with a strong female voice - rocks from the beginning to the end .

Fortyfive RPM released this sweet little record earlier this year and it contains 16 swinging rock-boppin' tunes, each and everyone a pearl to listen to. There aren't that many women who sing rockabilly, at least not in the US of EU, so it's about time a new star is brightening up! Sandra has an outstanding voice and she sings with such great ease. On this CD there are covers of songs that have been done by Rosie Flores, Marti Brom, Janis Martin and even a rendition of the mid-eighties hit "Perfect" from Fairground Attraction (in the original version also a cool rockabilly stomper). Did I allready say Sandra has a great voice? Some songs she sings crystal clear (e.g. I Love You Honey) than she demonstrates a powerfull, slightly rough voice (C'mon Little Baby) or even a sexy, high-pitched Betty Boop-like whooper. Drums and double bass are providing a reliable bedrock for Schroeder, who is without a doubt a brilliant guitar picker. Schroeder produces some real firework when a song needs it, and bright decorations if for other songs. Did I allready mention that Sandra has a great voice?
