A real down-home boy, Al Ferrier has been recording in the Louisiana backwoods since 1955 and continues to record for the label that gave him his first break over half a century ago - Goldband Records. This chock-full compilation gathers together his 1950s recordings in all their glory; the true King of Louisiana Swamp Rockabilly...he's the man!!! Al Ferrier first recorded for Goldband in 1955, and produced two singles, "No No Baby" and "My Baby Done Gone Away." Originally a country singer from Montgomery, Louisiana, Ferrier was greatly influenced by Carl Perkins. He and his group the Boppin' Billies became one of the region's notable rockabilly bands. Their distinctive sound was due in part to Al's brother Brian Ferrier, a talented lead guitarist who had played with Elvis Presley on the Louisiana Hayride. Ferrier recorded other rockabilly numbers for Jay Miller, but the music did not take off. He came out of retirement in the 1970s, and continued to record for both Goldband and Jay Miller
