Sage Guyton (vocals, rhythm guitar)
Jeremy "J.W." Wakefield (steel guitar, vocals)
Dave "Pappy" Stuckey (drums, vocals)
Wally Hersom (bass fiddle)
Rusty Blake (guitar)
Dan Weinstein (fiddle/trumpet)
Cold on the heels of their first, highly acclaimed release "Hollywood & Western," comes the latest recording from California's popular Western Swing combo, entitled "Stay Out Late With The Lucky Stars." Four years of painstaking work in the studio, incredible attention to detail, and a whole lot of plain old laziness have resulted in this, their much-procrastinated second CD. What you get are thirteen sizzling new tracks which demonstrate the band's solid songwriting and impressive musicianship .
But wait, there's more!! The package comes complete with beautiful, hand-drawn illustrations by the band's own Jeremy wakefield, as well as an absolutely free, fold-out mini poster suitable for framing or bird cage lining. But don't waste any more of your time reading this self-important puff piece, get "Stay Out Late With The Lucky Stars" for yourself RIGHT NOW, and find out what all the hoopla is about. If you like "Hot New Country," we'll be happy to disappoint you, but if you like hot old country, then by all means accept this invitation to "Stay Out Late With The Lucky Stars."'
'"The Lucky Stars' songs are consistently witty, entertaining and full of surprises, as is the band." - Dave Alvin
This new album was highly anticipated. Imagine Sage Guyton’s ability to sing and write songs combined with Jeremy Wakefield on steel and the support of Dave Stuckey on drums, Wally Hersom on bass and Russ Blake on guitar. Well, if you’re into western swing this is the combination that would make your heart flip! And it does. The album opens with "Rarin’ to Go," the kind of song that takes no prisoners and you know you’re not just listenin’ to another album but a recording that could stand proudly near Hank Penny, Tex Williams or Bob Wills in your collection. This band swings, I mean REALLY swings, they don’t play country songs with steel on a rock beat, you see what I mean? All this album is a proof that Sage Guyton is not only a fantastic singer but a genius in term of writing songs. Of course you can expect clever lyrics (Teacher’s pet, Mama’s got the rundown dady blues to name but two) but Sage is more than a guy who writes funny tunes. Just listen to "Out of Your Mind" and "My Poor Old Haunted Heart" (and if you don’t cry on these one, you’re not really human). JW sings the two covers of this album "The Tattooed Lady" and Cindy Walker’s "Don’t Count Your Chickens" and the records ends on the instrumental "Stay Out Late" that could have been recorded by the Western Caravan. But enough said, this record is an absolute must ! - Fred Turgis - Jumpin' from 6 to 6

''Everbody deserves a little rockabilly in their lives...and if twang's your thang, Mr Smiths got it in buckets. From the lowdown, honest-to-goodness stomp of ' This
Violent Heart' and ' Kicking Machine' to the tender strumming of 'Time', JD Smith's take on old-fashioned rock and blues is charming and toe-tappin', delivered with a directness and honesty that tips it's hat to the spirit of Charlie Feathers and other long-gone knee-tremblers.'' Bizarre Magazine
''These tracks jitter along with a barely contained energy and excitement and real passion to match Smith's technically faultless playing. You sort of imagine this is what it must have been like to hear this music for the first time before it got tired
with use and re-use.'' Bubblegum Slut
All instruments & voices - J.D. Smith & Darrel Higham
J.D. Smith's debut album was recorded and produced by Darrel Higham - who also lent his amazing guitar skills - to create an album that owes as much to Johnny Cash as it does to Iggy Pop.
Taking elements of County, Rock n' Roll and a dash of Punk, J.D. Smith's Jukebox Riot is an album that is trying to stand apart while glorying in all that has come before.
J.D Smith is a London based solo blues/punk/rockabilly who has been working for the past 4 years to bring Rockabilly back from the brink and allow this amazing music to gain a larger audience. Having stayed outside of the Rockabilly scene (but some very enjoyable times within), where Rockabilly music has found itself very much alive but stuck, J.D. has played in venues that include the Luminarie (in support of Wanda Jackson) the Barfly (upstairs and downstairs), the Fly, Purple Turtle (Camden), the Cafe de Paris, the Dublin castle, the Hope and Anchor, the Bull & Gate, the Notting hill arts club and the 12 Bar Club.
J.D's debut album '' A Jukebox riot,'' which was recorded 2007 by Darrel Higham (Modern Rockabilly guitarist). The album has been picked up by Total Rock's radio station, who carried out an hour long interview for their Rockabilly/country show and a number of underground magazines including Bizarre magazine, the Music Magazine and Bubblegum Slut. With an idea, a guitar and a heap of Punk rock thrown in J.D. is hoping to wake people up to the idea that a solo act doesn't have to mean folk, it can also be dangerous again.

The greatest voice in contemporary Rockabilly backed by a superb band for an album full of hits..
"Messin' Around With Junior Marvel" is a mixture of master musicians and classic rockabilly sounds, with a nod to yesteryear and a touch of tomorrow. This is a recording that feels like your favorite 501's - you broke them in dancing and fixing that old Ford and could not imagine wearing them without the big cuff. It says who you are. Comfortable and classic, timeless and tough.
Junior Marvel's voice is warm and inviting. It feels good. Sounds like a Saturday night when everything is right. Jaakko Buchholtz rides his double bass in perfect time with Maico Masjosthusmann's drums. Top up this outfit with Roger Cornille on solo guitar, toss in a few terrific top players and here is one sweet recording.
Their influences are evident - Charlie Gracie, Johnny Horton, Burnette Brothers. But as much as these well known artist have influenced this CD, it is not a copy of these great performers. Marvel isn't just messin' around. he has created his own unique vintage sound. Junior has been playing and performing to crowds all over the world for many a year and it is absolutely clear in this recording. From "The Stuff You Gotta Watch", a west Texas workout, to "Mess Around" with distinct Presley influence. "This Is The Night" that you will find a platter that you won't want to leave your player. "Marijuana Boogie" doesn't disappear in a cloud of smoke, as you can pass this around for everyone to enjoy. 13 is the magic number - 13 wild warm rockin' tunes to play and dance to in your favorite 501's, cat clothes or while you are messin' around.
This El Toro release is timeless and tough. It feels right. As a matter of fact it is Marvel-ous.

Junior Marvel - Vocals and Rhythm guitar
Nils Becker - Take off guitar
Huey Moor - Double bass
Maico Masjosthusman - Drums
Original sessions because this project is an original idea from Junior Marvel.
Original because its recorded in the original way and without drums.
Original because these songs are no note for note covers, but songs done in the Junior Marvel style in honour of his number one heroe and undisputed Elvis the King.
After quite some years in the rockabilly scene Junior Marvel thought it was time to start a band with his own style and sound, being absolute fifties. To achieve this, he approached some fine musicians in Germany. In very short time they skyrocketed in the scene, starting with a tour through Spain! Greaseball, Hemsby, D-Day, the Green Bay festival and the Rockabilly Rave soon followed. Just to name a few.
Their playlist exists of the great classics from the early Elvis, Johnny Burnette, Gene Vincent and lesser known heroes of the fifties done in a way that comes close to the original recording, accepted even by the most critical fans.
The biggest part is rockabilly but they vary with some blues, hillbilly, country and even jazzy stuff. But the mainpart exists of self-penned compositions, the fact that people ask about "who did the original" tells enough of their quality!

Pure Rockabilly recorded live at the legedary Sun Records Studio.
If you're a modern Indie Rock artist ready to record an album, Steve Albini's studios in Chicago might be the dream setting. Rockers of all sorts would probably kill at the chance to lay down tracks at Jimi Hendrix's old Electric Ladyland studios. What's a recording-ready Rockabilly cat to do? Pilgrimage to Memphis and rent some time at the legendary Sun Studios, of course, Jerry King & the Ramblers did just that. This four-piece group has ace chops, but what makes A Date With such a success is their ability to capture the energy and spirit of the masters, injecting the traditional sound with the necessary authenticity to make it sound like it was indeed recorded in the '50s during Sun's heyday. Also inspired by the locally-spawned King Records family, the Ramblers are built like the prototypical Rockabilly crew -- stand-up bass, shuffling beats, soulful, twangy lead vocals, call-and-response back-ups, driving guitar and songs about Brown Eyed women and Devil's Children. Singer/rhythm guitarist King has the vocal presence of a youthful, ornery Eddie Cochran, his spirited, jumping croon speckled with a barrage of inspired "C'mons" and hiccups that slap-back with wet, echoing reverb. The group's motor mostly runs at a steady, high-octane pace and that's when they are at their most effective. Highlights include "You Forgot Your Name" and "Bad Dreams," which finds King at his most excitable, the propulsive "Speed Limit", and "She's a Devils Child," which has that wild-eyed, early Elvis feel. Elsewhere, "Price Of Love" slows down the tempo and breaks up the train-chugging assault with a lonesome ballad that best shows off King's vocal talents. The joyous performances are priceless and the lively recording techniques give the album an undeniably vintage vibe, refreshing in this age of auto-tuners and multi-layered tracking. Recording at the foundation of Rock & Roll, it's nice to think that the Ramblers ran into lingering ghosts checking out the new blood. After listening to A Date With, if there was indeed any spectral intermingling, the spirits probably offered them a light off their Zippo, gave 'em a pull from their flask and challenged them to a game of dirty pool. Sun Studios is just where this talented band belongs. Jerry King and the Rivertown Ramblers are the real deal. -- MB Blue Suede News Magazine.

"Rock and roll smells phony and false. It is sung, played, and written for the most part by cretinous goons. By means of its almost imbecilic reiteration it manages to be the martial music of every sideburned delinquent on the face of the earth.. Rock and roll is the most brutal, ugly, desperate, vicious form of expression it has been my misfortune to hear” (Frank Sinatra, 1957)
