The Possum Hollow Boys are Chicago's premier rockabilly/hillbilly/classic country outfit. The band is made up of Casey McDonough on lead guitar, piano and vocals, Dennis Leise on rhythm/fingerstyle guitar, trombone and vocals, Casey Stockdon on upright bass and vocals and Jim Barclay on drums.

They are legendary for their dynamic, rousing and always entertaining live shows and in knowing (without aid of a catalogue or songbook) thousands of songs. "Introducing" is their debut CD and they hope you enjoy what they have put together in this collection of originals and covers.

Just out for their appearance at the 10th Rockabilly Rave where they did again a fantastic gig, here's the third Mars Attacks Album !
Always in progression, the band avoids the trap of coming up with a copy of their previous records. They have now reached a class and maturity that let them incorporate their own songs as well as the few covers in the same topic: "The Circle Of Love".
This is called a concept album, really uncommon for this kind of music ! Althought texts follow themselves in the "logic of the circle", we have here a great diversity of songs, fast rockabilly, bopper with trumpet, ballads...skilfully played in their own style with a full and powerful sound... Quality is present at every level, the cover is in a digipack format with a booklet and makes you think it's a jazz album from the late 50's, really a splendid item... ! ...and if you think that this must have been done by great serious mature musicians, just check the included video...!

Joel Paterson and The Modern Sounds is a Chicago based rhythm trio featuring Joel Paterson on guitar, steel guitar and vocals; Beau Sample on string bass and vocals; Alex Hall on drums and vocals. This big little band is dedicated to performing traditional American music, specializing in hot jazz, western swing, rockabilly, classic blues and everything in between. The Modern Sounds are on the cutting edge of the Atomic Age—bringing you the best of the 30's, 40's and 50's.

Guitar ace Joel Paterson hails from Madison, Wisconsin and has lived in Chicago for many years, performing with various bands including Jimmy Sutton's Four Charms, The Wabash Jug Band and Kelly Hogan's Wooden Leg. He currently fronts The Modern Sounds and Joel Paterson's Blues Roundup. Joel can also be seen playing pedal steel with The Western Elstons. Slap bass virtuoso Beau Sample is from San Antonio, Texas. He spent a few years on the Austin music scene and has recently made Chicago his home. Sample has toured the world and the U.S. many times over, fronting his former band Cave Catt Sammy and backing up Elana James. Alex Hall is from Chicago and is a very talented drummer and recording engineer. He is the man behind the "Chicago Sound" of Ventrella Records and Tapes.
Joel, Beau and Alex founded Ventrella Records in an effort to get rich quick or go broke slow, depending on how you look at it. Ventrella released two CDs in 2008. "A Chicago Session" features The Modern Sounds backing up boogie woogie piano master Carl Sonny Leyland. "Steel is Real" showcases the pedal steel sounds of Joel Paterson. In June, 2009 The Modern Sounds released a specially priced double length album. The two CD set features "both kinds of music" they play—one disc is titled "Hold It Fellas...It's the Modern Sounds," featuring their rockabilly and blues set. The other disc is titled "Stomp Stomp," and features their hot jazz and swing side. Minimally mic'd and using no overdubs—The CDs have captured in the studio the great live set of the Modern Sounds.

The Modern Sounds can be seen playing around Chicago at various nightclubs including The Green Mill, Buddy Guy's Legends, The Hideout, Katerina's, Pete Miller's and Fitzgerald's.

When Chicago’s music scene comes up in conversation, you are not likely to hear the words “steel guitar.” If Joel Paterson has his way that will all change soon. Paterson is the Windy City’s champion of the steel guitar.

When I moved to Chicago from Austin I thought my days of playing with steel guitarists were over. Luckily, I could not have been more wrong. Within days of my arrival I got the chance to sit down for an informal jam session with Joel Paterson and Alex Hall. What started as a laid-back afternoon turned into a real-deal project, and ultimately, the first session for our new record label. The three of us founded the Ventrella Recording Company to document our new-found empathy and dedication to American roots music.

Joel Paterson is one of the most lyrical players on the steel scene today. He is comfortable using space and dynamics in his improvisations, a true sign of maturity on any instrument. He can make his steel guitar sound like a ragtime piano, a punchy brass section, a blues guitar or even the most mellifluous of female vocalists. I feel any listener with an aural palate, refined or not, will be able to enjoy the variety of music Joel has served up for this record. You will hear him play western swing, jazz, blues, hawaiian, latin, and country – and even dish up some soul jazz organ grooves. He is a musician who knows no stylistic boundaries.

I feel very lucky to have been a part of this session. “Steel is Real” will be a welcome addition to the record collection of any connoisseur of Americana.

Miss Mary Ann is living in London now, but she still relies on her faithful backing band from Rotterdam "The Ragtime Wranglers": Joe Sixpack on guitar; Sietse Von Helsing on drums and Huey Moor on double-bass; musicians who have also been the favourite accompanists of no-one less than: Sid King, Hardrock Gunter, Curtis Gordon, the Collins Kids, Marvin Rainwater, Jack Earls, Barbara Pittman, Janis Martin and many more . . . . .

A 15 years retrospective from rockabilly singer Miss Mary Ann with her Ragtime Wranglers and also some tracks as the Ranch Girls duo. 20+ tracks, all unreleased, very rare, out of print, and/or remastered. Top notch Dutch rockabilly. Comes in a DVD-size digipack with beautiful 50's rock'n'roll poster-like artwork!

'This CD holds 20 tracks with a variety of styles: early country with harmony vocals of the Ranch Girls, rockabilly sung by the charming Miss Mary Ann and authentic instrumentals from the Ragtime Wranglers. After 18 releases and hundreds of concerts they decided it's time for a compilation album.
The band spent a lot of time checking out studio-tapes and radio recordings with this amazing result. They carefully put together unexpected unreleased tracks and surprising remixes with few of their recordings from recent albums. This all has been recorded over the years 1993 - 2008 at different places but nevertheless blends together amazingly well, because every session was in the hands of the same 3 people: Miss Mary Ann (vocals), Joe Sixpack (guitar) and Sietse Heslinga
(drums).
Most tracks were recorded live, so you can share the great band atmosphere captured on tape. The cover is a beautifully designed DVD-size cardboard box, with full information on session details and earlier releases
on Dutch, Japanese, Finnish and American labels. A worthy, classy document on the band's first 15 years.
