Wayne Walker will forever be known as a highly-successful songwriter in the country and pop fields during the 1950s and 1960s. Since his death in the late 1970s, however, he became something of a rockabilly hero in Europe with such obscure recordings as “All I Can Do Is Cry”, “Love Me”, “Bo-Bo Ska Diddle Daddle”, “You’ve Got Me” and “Little Ole You” which have kept the dance floors of the many rock ‘n’ roll clubs filled. Strangely, those thirty-odd years that have since elapsed have never seen a complete Wayne Walker reissue…until now! This is Wayne Walker – The singer and his songs.

This is one of those cds which make you happy, make you dance, make you smile and move hips. If you are big fan of hillbilly, don’t be mislead, this cd has nothing to do with hillbilly itself!
It says it contains 18 Red Hot Tracks, and they are not lying! It really has 18 tracks! And all of them are brilliant hot swinging stuff; with add of harmonica and piano, slowing down from time to time with some rythm and blues compositions. 13 songs on this recording are originals. Also some “guest-writer” must be mentioned - Darrin Mazzilini, American professonal songwriter, who came to Sweden and was so amazed by the band that under deep impression he created some songs (two of which took place on “Evil Times”) for them.
What else, besides the professional work of musicians and pleasant voices of lead singers (Andres and Richard), makes this cd so special? A Girl. Guest (besides the bunch of musicians who were invited to play here and there) singer for whole three songs - Karin Johansson – makes rhythm and blues sound hot and spicy! Great voice and amazing fitting to the band… or is it the band so professional to back up so neatly? Wonderful!
To make the picture full, I have to add that there are three live recordings (well, one of them is a pure piano solo) and the last one - a bonus track to give you extra energy and remind you again how The Unkool Hillbilies could be cool! Sure, they're well able to ressurect Roy Brown-style R&B and primordial Rock'n'Roll for post-Millennial ears. They endeavor famously with magnetic sparkle and devil-be-damned abandon. The wild guitar is joined by an indomitable rhythm section, wailing saxes and pounding piano. And the several singers keep things fresh. Here it is! Pitched high in expectations, the first release of “The Voodoo Shakers”!
The classic trio cast, presents itself in a contempory sounding debut called “Shake it!”
A FRESH MIXTURE OF SURF, BLUES AND ROCK´N´ROLL !

One of the most interesting, young German bands at the moment” (Mad House Jump Newsletter), but definitely no sleeper anymore.

The Voodoo Shakers, founded in autumn 2002, preach their Voodoo Religion by the means
of Surf, Blues and Rock´N´Roll. The pontiff Chris Igler (gretsch/vocals) was able to crowd round the right fellows, with Markus Richter (double bass) and Sebastian Marr (drums).
Living in the north of Bavaria, these guys are hittin´the road to preach their dark religion.

After playing together for one year they realeased their demo CD “Voodoo Road”,
which did really hit the scene. They even managed to get on The Banzai! Rockabilly Nuggets sampler with demo version of their song “Ruby Black Hair”. They had a very hot first season and played with big names like Deke Dickerson and The Ecco-Fonics, Smokestack Lightnin´ and The Bricats.

At the end of 2004 they decided to record their first full length album, together with Mike Müller a good friend of the band. The pre-release critics came from Scottie Blinn of Mississippi Mud (USA), Bernie Batke from Smokestack Lightnin´, and Mischa Den Haring from T-99,
and turned out to be more than positive.

So give it a spin and always remember:
This is not for Good JuJu, this is for Bad JuJU!

Yuichi & the Hilltone Boys are from a very special place... Osaka, Tennessee. The Japanese city meets and greets the great state of Tennessee making rockabilly bop their own hometown sound. While you won't be able to find this location on a map, you will easily hear the wild west and the hilltop hollers in this modern rockin' outfit.

A bit of country croonin', a touch of blue ballads with righteous rockabilly have been combined to create a marvellous set of songs. Just three pieces are able to make up this band of terrific players.

Yuichi on vocals and rhythm guitar has a sweet sure sound that has enough sorrow to remind you of early Sun sounds. Kenji, who has mastered lead guitar in a style that many will envy, gives this band its twang that is a treat. He is able to swing the steel that will have you thinking about west Texas honky tonks. Osamu rounds up the line up with bass playing that is truly tops. He keeps the beat boppin', the trail blazing and slaps the stand up so you know he means business.

Yuichi & The Hilltone Boys may be from a place not yet mapped, but they will be pride of place on your player. They are Japanese in nationality while being universal in their songs of love, loss and dancing all night long. The three talented are a top trio travelling town to town to take you to treatsville. Yuichi & The Hilltone Boys are not to be missed and with this recording you won't be without them wherever you happen to be.
