HOT CARS! HOT MUSIC!
Popular "Hot Rod Music" saw its heyday during the late 1950's and early-mid 1960's. The most well known songs were penned and performed mainly by a small group of young Southern California musicians and part-time hot rodders in '63 - '64. But most of us real rockers know that as soon as the first automobile wheels began rolling off the assembly lines of Detroit, real "hot rod" records began rolling onto jukeboxes and DJ's turntables. "Hot Rod Boogies" waved the starting flag for many a car enthusiast's imagination and sparked the beginning of a musical genre all it's own. Authentic mid 1950's rockabilly music can trace much of it's early inspiration and fast rhythms to a teenager's love of driving fast cars and owning hopped-up rods.
Today's rockabilly musicians are working wonders with the sounds that popular culture has long since forgotten or cast onto the scrap heap. Using the 'spare parts' of vintage 50's sounds, classic instrumentation & some garage honed talent -and then inspired by the "kustom" kings of old, modern rockabilly acts have crafted some truly killer recordings, driving that original spirit blazing back onto the modern hepcat scene. Much like the original hot rodders who were often limited by materials, time and money, these 21st century rockers have fashioned streamlined, stripped down and scorching retro roots rock music with all the same fire, flash and fury as their original 1950's heroes.
Like the curves in a Von Dutch pinstripe that bend and blend into the perfect work of kustom art, so too does this record combine that original kustomizing spirit of the "old rat rodders" and the vintage car sounds that we love (Hillbilly, Rhythm N' Blues, Novelty & Rockabilly!), welding them into something cooler, faster and BETTER! And that's what we have here today, race fans: a real souped up gow job of a hot rod platter! Rhythm Bomb's own musical mechanics (and a few hand selected mercenaries) have chopped, channeled and 'hopped' up 22 instant car classics for your driving and listening pleasure! Remarkably, most are all NEW original tracks, with just a scant 5 retreads (covers) under the hood. What you have here in your greasy hands is the perfect soundtrack for an afternoon wrenching in the garage, an evening cruise or a late night drag on the outskirts of town.
That same rebellious fever and need for something "just a bit faster and a lot cooler" is what fuels these tracks here, so please... take it easy 'round them curves!

For the past several months Wild Hare Records has been remarkably silent as they worked diligently on the new release Ain’t Rocket Science. Over 35 tracks were recorded during 7 different recording sessions. In its finished form, 27 tracks were placed on the CD, which is a full 68 minutes of music!!!! The CD features 5 acts, some are new.... some are not, but all are top notch and add something new and different to the Roots Rock/ Hillbilly music scene.
Opening the CD is the Garnet Hearts from Baltimore, Maryland. Here you will find some of the most impressive song writing (by Eddie MacIntosh) that we have heard in years. Eddie , Mark Pettijohn, John Bozarth and Nikki Spurgeon rip through 5 tracks of real roots rock n roll and rockabilly. It swings, it rocks!
Up next is Thommy Burns. Of course you all know about Thommy. He has been in the roots music scene for most of his life. Thommy was the front man for neo rockers The Atomics. Then onto the Steubenville Knights and now back home to Thommy’s roots. Thommy being the great crooner that he is, corners the market on his 40's hillbilly/western swing/boogie 6 song set. No one does it better!
Through the years, Wild Hare has worked with many historic artists. Our featured historic artist for this CD is Ron Berryof Dunkirk, Indiana. Ron recorded some great rock n roll in the 50's on the Hi Label. Ron rips through 5 tracks of raw rock n roll and rockabilly. His voice is still great and he writes some really great songs too. Ron was recorded the way historic artists should be recorded...raw and vintage!!!!
Honky Tonkers!!! The Saddle Pals are back with 5 tracks on the CD featuring Bob Butler on lead vocals and Dave Moore on take off guitar. The Saddle Pals have been popular in the mid Atlantic area for years and the reunion recordings are the best to date. Johnny Bones of the Helldivers sings one too!!! Real Roots Country music from Appalachian Hillbillies!
To close out the CD, Jason “Hoss” Hicks gives us 6 tracks of rockabilly and rock n roll. Hoss was previously in the Steubenville Knights and currently fronts the Old Line Skiffle Combo. Hoss writes great songs and was previously featured on a 2005 Wild Hare Release on 45rpm vinyl. Hoss is in full power as he delivers his great, expressive vocals and ends the CD with a real bang!!!!!
And one more word about our recordings. If you are looking for Casio keyboard and electric bass recorded to a digital system. You might want to pass up this CD. Wild Hare Records, just may be onto something. Earlier this year, Wild Hare Records embarked on a new mission. Their mission was to allow even more artists to be a part of Wild Hare’s growing success. Wild Hare felt that compilations are a good way for artists to get their music heard and to bring a great value to the roots rock community by offering over an hours worth of music for one low price. Each artist gets at least 5 songs on the CD compared to 1 or 2 on other compilations.
In May, Wild Hare Records released Ain’t Rocket Science 101. This mammoth release included 5 different artists, 27 songs and 67 minutes of music. The release ran the gambit form hillbilly to rockabilly to 50's raw rock n roll. This CD has been a huge success garnering accolades from music professionals all over the globe.
Today, December 5, 2006, Wild Hare Records is proud to announce it’s next release in the compilation series: Ain’t Rocket Science 202. And what a release it is!!! Featuring both old and new talent, this CD focuses more on Roots Rock and Rockabilly with just a dash of Hillbilly thrown in.
In this CD, you will find 4 great artists . And they are: Amber Lee- new to the stage, Jerry King and His Falls City Boys- established talent with new band, Joe Penny- Hank Williams sideman and Federal records rock n roller, Screamin’ Scotty- our version of Johnny Carroll. The CD contains 27 tracks and is 69 minutes long.
As with all of our releases, we do all of the recording in a vintage- all analog studio utilizing vintage gear and equipment. No tracking, no overdubs, just raw in your face 50's style recordings.
